Call for Papers: International Conference
12-14 June 2014
King Mongkut's University of Technology Thonburi in Bangkok, in association with Macquarie University and the Independent Learning Association, would like to invite you to participate in the DRAL 2/ILA 2014 International Conference from 12-14 June 2014. The conference is a dual-theme conference combining DRAL 2 (Doing Research in Applied Linguistics 2) and the 6th ILA conference. (The first DRAL conference organised by KMUTT and Macquarie was held in April 2011.)
This event is being supported by Association Internationale de Linquistique Appliquée Research Network on Learner Autonomy (AILA ReNLA).
Topics/Themes: The goal of the DRAL 2/ILA 2014 International Conference is to share and learn about a variety of aspects of doing research in applied linguistics and independent learning and learner autonomy.

For Days 1 and 2, papers will focus on research issues, rather than subject area issues. For example, papers could discuss the appropriacy of a particular research paradigm, problems and solutions in data analysis, or the ways in which conducting research affected teaching. Papers can report findings concerning the subject area, but should at least include a substantial discussion of issues concerning conducting research. Papers on Day 2 should combine research issues and autonomy. Papers concerning issues of independent learning and learner autonomy will be presented on Day 3.
Types of presentations: The conference will include papers, poster presentations, and a forum for novice researchers.
Papers: This is a lecture-style presentation. The presenter has 30 minutes to present a paper and 10 minutes for questions and answers. Some time-slots will be reserved for papers by current PhD students to encourage dissemination of research issues relating to PhDs.
Poster presentations: This is a display of material on a poster which will be scheduled to allow opportunities for conference participants to discuss the material. The standard size of a poster is 1189mm x 841mm, 46.82 inches x 33.11 inches in the Portrait position. ( Click here to download detailed guidelines.)
Forum for novice researchers: This is a forum for novice researchers (e.g. prospective PhD students, teachers wishing to do research). The goal is NOT to present completed research; rather, it is to present ideas or plans for research for audience feedback. Presenters will speak for up to 10 minutes and then receive feedback from the audience.
Dates and Venue
The conference will be held from June 12th -14th , 2014 at School of Liberal Arts, King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi (KMUTT), Bangkok 10140, Thailand
