The School of Liberal Arts was originally the Department of Language and Social Studies under the Faculty of Industrial Education. Later, a project to set up the School of Liberal Arts was initiated. On April 9, 1998, this project was approved by a university council meeting, and it was approved on August 2, 2001 by the Commission of Higher Education. Eventually, it was officially announced in the Royal Gazette volume 117 section 89, dated November 7, 2000 that the School of Liberal Arts had become a new faculty of King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi.
